Professional Learning Day Plan – September 25, 2026

The following is a brief description of our planned professional learning work for the 2026-2027 school year.  This work is organized around our district’s four collective goals:

• All students shall read, write, and communicate at grade level in both languages of instruction.
• All students shall be at grade level in numeracy.
• All students and staff will feel safe, cared for, and engaged in learning.
• All students shall graduate from high school.

School staff will monitor the impact of their work from August on, and on subsequent professional learning days, in achieving these goals.

September 25 Sessions

Literacy

• Staff will participate in ongoing, prescribed Central Office offered PL sessions. These will occur in the mornings of our Pilot PL days. The afternoons will be dedicated to collaboration amongst teachers were they will create common formative assessments, review leading and lagging measures and better understand district common assessment in Grade 12.
• FSL Literacy staff will participate in ongoing, prescribed Central Office offered PL sessions. These will occur in the mornings of our Pilot PL days. The afternoons will be dedicated to collaboration amongst teachers around the leading measures that will be implemented in their classrooms. Staff will monitor and update their PDCA charts.

Numeracy

• Staff will be in our building for 4/6 Pilot PL days. They will spend time reviewing common formative assessments and then acting on the results. The afternoons will be dedicated to collaboration amongst teachers where they will create common formative assessments, review leading and lagging measure, better understand district common assessments in Grade 10.

Safe, Cared For, and Engaged

• Our ESS Team will work with PLP students to ensure their learning needs are met. They will identify trends amongst PLP Accommodated and Adjusted students. They will work on resources and approaches to support classroom teachers.
• Additionally, Practical Art teachers will plan and implement a variety of activities for students that help them feel more connected to the building.

Graduation

• Career Connected teaching staff will plan and implement future-focused learning opportunities. The featured opportunity will be our Future Pathway Expo.
